Peloton rival: Sam’s Club introduces exercise bike at stores for $799

Sam’s Club is now stocking up on exercise bikes similar to Peloton, but at a lower price. 

The Sport-s Bike, made by Echelon Fitness, is available for $799 and customers are eligible for a six month free sport membership. After the free trial, can choose from plans starting at $19.99 a month, $39.99 a month or $399.99 a year. 

Peloton’s standard bike is priced at $1,895 and its all all-access membership starts at $39 a month for members with a bike and $12.99 a month just to access the digital classes. 

Using the EchelonFit app, the Sport-s Bike monitors a member’s performance and tracks their progress. The app also offers strength, yoga, pilates, cardio, nutrition, HIIT, Zumba and other classes through the high-resolution screen.

As gyms closed amid the pandemic, exercise bike sales spiked during 2020. Peloton attracted nearly 2 million subscribers to its fitness classes last year with bike sales surging 172% in the fourth quarter of 2020 alone.
