CYCLISTS and motorists are often battling for space on crowded urban streets.
In a video uploaded to the Road.cc YouTube channel, a van makes a purposefully dangerous pass at a cyclist in Richmond, London.
The road in question is popular with cyclists for getting to and from Richmond Park – a hot spot for riders.
Despite there being a cycle lane to his left, the cyclist has chosen to ride on the road.
It's not illegal to ride on the road rather than a cycle lane, but it infuriates some drivers who see it as a waste of their time having to wait behind.
Like the chap who comes into shot shortly after the video begins.

The cyclist has some sort of speaker attached to their handlebars, so you don't hear the van approach.
Despite cars coming the other way the van goes for the overtake and drives extremely close to the cyclist, who shouts his disapproval.

The van driver's front passenger window is down and he shouts back 'it's a cycle lane, innit.'
The van driver then makes off down the road having made his point.
But which side are you on? Should the cyclist be on the cycle lane to the left or should the van be more patient?

There wasn't much love for the cyclist on the YouTube video comments section.
YouTube user Kevin Lynch said: "Of course, you'll get all the cyclists argue that just because a cycle lane is provided there's no compulsion under law to use it, but I'll bet if there had been a car or van parked up on the pavement blocking that cycle lane they'd all start frothing and foaming at the mouth about inconsiderate drivers…"
While Ian Davidson said: "Yet another cyclist refusing to use a cycle lane, then blaming cars for being too close.
"This is just downright irritating."
