Oven door glass is built to withstand high temperatures and allows people to easily take a peek to see how their food is coming along – unfortunately, over time this window can collect grime and grease stains, which can render it all but useless. Whilst it might be tempting to work around a small stain, this can get baked onto the glass after each use, making it more difficult to clean in the long run. Fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have taken to social media to share their top tips for cleaning oven door glass.

Taking to a dedicated Mesh Hinch cleaning page on Facebook one woman asked for advice on how to remove stains from her oven glass. Sandra Summers said: “How do I get the stains off of my oven door?”

The post was inundated with over 100 comments from fellow cleaning fanatics. While a range of suggestions were given, the most common was to use a dishwasher tablet.

Carol Furniss said: “I use a dishwasher tablet, just dampen it first then use it wherever the glass is dirty.”

Susan Cambridge commented: “Damp dishwasher tablet and it only takes five minutes. I was amazed at how good it works.”

Tracey Hammond wrote: “Rub a damp dishwasher tablet over it and then wipe off with a damp cloth, fantastic results every time. It melts away tough stains without scrubbing.”

Kathleen Clark advised: “Dishwasher tablet, wet it and run it on the door. After, rinse off. Takes off burnt deposits.”

Linda Crone agreed: “I used a washing tablet and it worked a treat for me.”

Bernie Divin said: “I have tried many things but a dishwasher tablet cleans oven doors well. I couldn’t believe how well this worked.”

Chris Mullen suggested: “A dishwasher tablet in circles and wash off with warm water – game changer.”

Grayson Rayner added: “Use a dishwasher tablet damp, then wipe it off with a wet towel. It will look like new”

Dishwasher tablets are made of concentrated dishwasher detergent and promise to cut through tough grease and leave your dishes sparkling.

Plus, the hard powder tablets have an abrasive surface that helps to scour away those stuck-on stains but is gentle enough not to scratch the oven glass.

Also dishwasher tablets are inexpensive as a pack of 30 can be purchased from Asda for £3. This works out as 1p per tablet. Britons can also buy the powder tablets from Wilko for a pack of 40 for £3.

Other Mrs Hinch fans suggested creating a paste out of baking soda and white vinegar to remove oven door stains.

Elaine Hallam said: “Baking soda and white vinegar, leave for one hour and then wipe.”

Els Bloomfield commented: “Make a paste of vinegar and baking soda, then scrub with a sponge.”

Lottie Layla suggested: “Try bicarbonate of soda mixed with white vinegar. Make a paste and put it on, then leave for an hour and wash it off.”

Doris Babb added: “Vinegar and baking soda. Let it sit for an hour or so.”

For less stubborn oven glass stains, Rosanne Jones argued that this paste only needs to be left on for 10 minutes for results to happen.
