David was born in Cambridge in 1946 but has spent many years living in Sussex in the 76 years since. The Pink Floyd guitarist, singer, and songwriter lives at his property on a farm in the serene West Sussex village of Wisborough Green. He lives a quiet life in the village with his wife Polly Samson and their kids – Romany, Charlie, Gabriel and Joe.
Wisborough Green, as you might expect, is built about its large and beautiful long village green. Located 39 miles from London, Wisborough Green lies in the north-west corner of West Sussex.
Nestled on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Wisborough Green encapsulates a quintessentially Sussex lifestyle.
Many adorable this village as it is steeped in history. Henry III first gave it a Royal Charter to hold an annual fair and Thursday market in the 13th century. These days there’s still an annual summer fete and a visiting funfair in September.
The market is held monthly in the village hall, where people can buy everything from artisan bread and fresh fish to stationery and socks.
There are many areas of interest in the village as there are clubs and societies to entertain and educate, from beekeeping and bell-ringing right through to table tennis and wildlife groups.
Those interested can even learn to fly a Spitfire in the village’s Spitfire Simulator Club. With miles of Sussex walks on the doorstep, it makes it the perfect place for those who enjoy a long dog walk.
The village also boasts three pubs, The Bat & Ball, The Cricketers Arms and The Three Crowns, all serving excellent food and drink. Britons will also be able to find an independent cafe in the heart of the village, serving own-blend coffee, breakfast, lunch and cream teas.
Head just five miles down the road to Billingshurst for supermarkets, chemists and hardware stores. Or for more specialist shops, including an independent bookshop, an excellent deli, and local boutiques, take the short drive to Petworth.

Further afield you’ll find Horsham, Guildford and Chichester, with all the leisure and shopping facilities one would expect from larger towns.
When it comes to housing around the Green, the properties reflect the development of the village over the last two centuries with a minimum of recent infill.
A modern estate of private detached properties sits comfortably adjacent to a mixed housing association and owned properties and a new enclave of terraced property for older residents, all on the hill west of the Green.
Other properties are strung out along the five roads leading into the village centre and generally backing straight onto agricultural land.
Newpound to the northeast has commercial development and a number of properties mostly on larger plots.
To the southwest are the scattered communities of Bedham, and Brick Kiln Common and a number of bigger properties in woodland, mostly with views over the Arun valley.
With an estimated net worth of around £146.7million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, it is no wonder that David has chosen to reside where the average house price is just short of £1million.
