Toilets need to be cleaned regularly. Homeowners should aim to do this at least once a week, or even more frequently for worse stains.
There is a range of products at the supermarkets, among these is Fabulosa’s toilet cleaner.
While I have been much more likely to reach for bleach-based items when cleaning a toilet in the past, the products are often heavy and inevitably leave a heavy bleach smell.
However, Fabulosa has launched a range of Luxury Toilet Gels that promise to get your toilet clean while leaving a pleasant scent.
The description reads: “Specially formulated to leave your toilet sparkling clean whilst livening up your bathroom with delightful fragrance, House of Fabulosa’s Luxury Toilet Gel removes stains, kills 99.9 percent of bacteria, and is tough on limescale and mineral deposits.
“The specifically designed bottle allows you to get right under the rim to achieve complete coverage/target hard-to-reach areas.”
The new gels are available in scents Bramble Harvest, Twilight Bouquet and Juicy Lime.

Each scent was custom-made by Fragrance Oils International, which is owned by the world’s largest perfumery and fragrance specialist, Givaudan, based in Geneva.
I first tested Bramble Harvest, which turned out to be my favourite one. The design of the bottle was particularly handy as it can fit under the rim and get the stains.
The liquid initially turned the toilet pink, but after leaving for a couple of hours, there was no lingering colour.

The bowl looked much cleaner and the fresh scent was noticeable in the bathroom.
And starting from £1.39 for a 680ml bottle, it is of the more affordable products on the market.
Twilight Bouquet and Juicy Lime also gave similar results. Initially turning the toilet bright colours, they left it looking clean and leaving a fresh scent in the bathroom.
