NEIGHBOURS are fighting a council's plans to paint yellow lines in front of a proposed Wetherspoons- ripping out their parking.
Cambridgeshire County Council is considering a no waiting at any time restriction along St Mary’s Street in Ely, Cambs.
The move would see Monday to Saturday's 30 minute waiting period – from 8am and 6pm – taken away for locals.
But residents say the plans could help Wetherspoons open a pub as yellow lines would allow the chain to unload deliveries.
The boozer previously failed to provide "adequate" loading facilities for deliveries in a 2021 planning application, which could have led to the road being blocked.
A report published by the council said one idea to address the delivery issue was to make turn the 30 minute parking restrictions into no waiting at any time.

The report said painting yellow lines would mean that length of road would be available for loading and unloading.
The City of Ely Council has objected to the proposals and next door's dental practice said they use the space "daily", CambsLive reported.
They explained it is vital for elderly patients and kids who need to park up outside to avoid walking long distances.
Meanwhile one person fumed: "Please can you explain why the owners require double yellow lines on the highway outside their property as they already have a large amount of parking on tarmac within the boundary of no.24.

Currently no new planning application has been submitted to turn the building, number 24, into a pub.
